Joomla Maintenance Scripts

Joomla Maintenance is not an easy task, but if you are committed to Joomla or your Joomla site then I suggest you perform this task regularly and smoothly. Maintenance of Joomla also serves a functional purpose as the technical designers can check on the Joomla script and keep the proper arrangement for software updates.

Here are some of the aspects that will help you maintain your Joomla scripts in a correct and running condition. First, create a directory in your system called “my scripts”. This directory will contain your maintenance script for Joomla, which should be maintained at regular intervals. It is suggested that you keep the script maintained by the designers as it keeps your Joomla applications up to date.

Secondly, you should create a separate folder in the My Scripts directory. This folder can be named “my scripts/version” and contains only your maintenance script. This maintenance script must include the version of Joomla, you are using, your web host’s URL, the URL for your site and your Joomla installation. You may include any other file extension.

Thirdly, edit the file my scripts/versions. In the file, use the value of all versions (e.g. for S2B-Joomla, S2C-Joomla, S2D-Joomla, etc.)

If you want to change the value of a version from one version to another, modify the value of the version in the file and save the file. The file must be saved in the S2A-formatted, where the extension must be .jso.

Fourthly, create a new file My Scripts/versions. Make sure that the file is saved in S2C format with no extension.

Tjoomla maintenance After this, you should check the file to make sure that it contains the line “maintenance script version”. This line must be present at the end of every script file. You can include any other line if you need to change the version of the script file.

Fifthly, copy the entire file from My Scripts directory to My Scripts/versions. Check the file to ensure that you have copied all the lines, which are mentioned in the maintenance script.

When this is done, the maintenance script must be executed by the webmaster. To execute the script, you must copy the .php file and place it in the My Scripts directory. This script must be executed from the root directory of the Joomla installation, i.e.

Lastly, edit the script to add the URL in the script. Only when you have modified the script, you can execute the script, which will automatically update your Joomla application and also manage the latest version of the script.

These steps are quite easy and simple when you follow these guidelines. With the right Joomla Maintenance Scripts you can increase the chances of survival of your Joomla website.
